Berlin's very own BRAINLESS WANKERS are on their way to break the decrepit structures of punk rock. With the punk-rock-police on their heels they rock the city and prove that you can dedicate yourself to this music without having spiky hair, writing lyrics about getting drunk, or wearing the latest skate gear. In their variety and energy the songs of the 4 WANKERS (Olli - vocals, Felix - guitar, Flo - bass , Rudi - drums) take up the openness of the original idea of punk rock and combine it with the band's distinctive style. The one-man-horn-section contributes to the catchy character of the songs with its succinct melody lines, which are rather atypical for a trumpet. Thanks to this the wankertunes stand out from the worn-out genre of skapunk. The WANKERS' blend includes the whole range from the straight punk song to pop and still shows a clear leitmotif. Just as the songs of the WANKERS avoid musical shallowness, the lyrics evade the usual punk rock paradigms and put irony and a broader scope of content in their place. After a Split-EP on vinyl ("Anyway", 1997 with NO BRAIN - NO PAIN) and a Mini-CD ("Enrichments", 1999) the BRAINLESS WANKERS have just released there first long-player entitled "Endorphin". The 12 tracks of the album were recorded at the Principal Studios near Münster were bands like Kreator, H-Blockx or Donots have already produced amazingly successful records. For the mastering the band chose Ekki Strauhs at Vielklang in Berlin, one of Germany's best men in this business. Like the previous output of the band, "Endorphin" was published by the band's own label Brainspot Records. When playing live the band members always demonstrate on-stage that there are no better tunes for dancing then their own. Simply reeling off the songs is not the WANKERS' idea of a punk rock show. Fuelled by this attitude at numerous gigs in their hometown of Berlin, Germany's punk rock city N°1, and all over the country the BRAINLESS WANKERS have gained support and appreciation in the German punk rock scene and have developed a loyal fan base, that is growing concert by concert. Through airplay on different Berlin radio stations and even US-American college radio the WANKERS reached yet more friends of punk rock music. After 9 years of band history, that started as the classic 3-chord-garage band in Berlin, the BRAINLESS WANKERS' basic motivation for making music is still what it always has been: transforming the frustrations of every day life into musical creativity, using set-backs as an incentive, and rocking without caring about any scene conformity.
