Bridge&Tunnel is a blueprint for out of towners, a guide for the displaced, disillusioned and misguided, the soundtrack to a film you haven´t seen yet. Bridge&Tunnel is a glimpse of imaginary musical cities, of ghost towns and forgotten places. How could it all go wrong?

One reason: Nathan Bennett (guitar, bass, voice). Manhattan raised, Nathan´s musical cherry was popped on New York´s grindcore scene - but after a couple of years of jamming and abuse (sonic and otherwise) in a band that shall remain nameless it eventually became all too apparent that the world tour was'nt going to happen. Hungry for
surprises, Nathan began a zigzag journey that would bounce him all around the globe, eventually taking up residence in London.

It was while slaving behind a London bar that Nathan struck up a
conversation with regular customer Mark Bihler. Nourished on a staple diet of all things computer love, Mark´s dalliances in contemporary electronic music were proving to be frustratingly unappreciated in his home country. It only seemed logical for Mark to pack up his studio and decamp to London. Within a couple hours of their meeting it became evident that Nathan and Mark shared a desire to escape the po-faced, pigeon-holing limitations of their previous underground "scenes". This, coupled with a disdain of current musical climates ("Contemporary R&B is the devil" so proclaims Nathan), would prove to be a catalyst for working together.

The result: a fucked-up pop approach that stands them in good stead: This sonic collage, combined with an indelible understanding of melody makes for fascinating listening. These ambient soundscapes swoop into pop´s darker corners, revealing half-remembered melodies, songs heard on yesterday´s radio.

The project has concluded remixes for english pop heroes Saint Etienne and their French counterpart Mellow. After the release of their successful and highly acclaimed first album, Bridge&Tunnel went straight back into their studio and are currently working on their second album. Its
scheduled release is in spring 2001.
